二本足で直立するかわいらしい姿で一躍人気となった、千葉市動物公園のレッサーパンダ風太くんが２０歳の誕生日を迎え、記念セレモニーが開かれた。
千葉市動物公園によると、レッサーパンダの平均寿命は１８歳ほどで、風太くんは人間の年齢に換算すれば８０歳以上になるということだ。
風太くんは近頃は白内障で右目がほぼ見えていないものの、健康状態は安定しているということで、動物園の人達は冷風機を追加で設置するなどして長寿を目指している。
