「iScience」に掲載された研究論文によると、科学者たちは犬の脳をスキャンし、幸福、悲しみ、怒り、恐怖など、人間のさまざまな表情を犬がどのように処理しているのかを明らかにした。
彼らは、8匹の犬に幸せな表情または無表情の人の画像を見せた所、幸せそうな顔の画像を見ると、側頭皮質と尾状核の活動が高まった。
この研究を行ったウィーン大学の研究者の一人のエルナンデスペレス氏はCNNに対し、「尾状核が幸せそうな顔の処理に関与していることが分かったのは、うれしい驚きだった」と語った。
