ずんだ餅は枝豆をすりつぶした餡を餅に載せて食べるお菓子です。
ずんだ餅は宮城県を中心に東北で広く食べられています。特に仙台では現在はずんだ餅は牛タン、笹かまぼこと並ぶ三大名物と人々は呼びます。
ずんだもちの名前の由来は色々説がありますが、説の多くは仙台藩の創始者の伊達政宗公がつけたという事で一致します。
仙台に来ればずんだ作り体験ツアーもあって、気軽に作るのを楽しめます。場所によっては英語対応の教室もあります。
また最近は人々は餡を餅にかけるだけでなく、トーストに塗ったり、大福もちの中に入れたり、アイスやロールケーキの材料に入れたりと、様々な食べ方が広がっています。
外国人の方の中には甘すぎてあんこ入りのお餅を苦手な人もいますが、ずんだ餅は材料が異なり甘すぎません。なので一度ずんだ餅を試すことを私は勧めます。
