MLBオールスターゲーム開催の前日の10日、恒例の本塁打競争が行われ、トロント・ブルージェイズのブラディミール・ゲレーロJr.が優勝した。
彼は決勝でタンパベイ・レイズのランディ・アロサレーナを25-23で破り、2007年の父親に続いて史上初親子でチャンピオンになった。
父のブラディミール・ゲレーロ氏もツイッターで「ものすごいパフォーマンスだった！ 誇りに思う」と息子の優勝を喜んだ。
