王座戦の第4局が京都市で行われ藤井聡太さんがタイトルを持つ永瀬拓矢さんに挑戦し、将棋界で史上初の八大タイトル独占を達成した。
対局は互いに持ち時間を使い切って1分将棋となり、一進一退の攻防が続く熱戦となったが、最終盤で藤井さんが逆転勝ちをおさめた。
藤井さんの師匠の杉本昌隆八段はインタビューにここまで強くなるとはと思った。すばらしい。よくやってくれたと喜びを語った。
