ロンドンで、個人所蔵では世界最古で、現存する書物としても最古の物の一つとされる写本が11日、競売大手クリスティーズ（Christie's）でオークションにかけられ、306万5000ポンド（約6億1500万円）で落札された。
「クロスビー・スコイエン写本（Crosby-Schoyen Codex）」は、ノルウェーの収集家のマーティン・スコイエン（Martin Schoyen）氏が所蔵していたもので、聖書中の「ヨナ（Jonah）書」と「ペテロ（Peter）の手紙」の第1の手紙を完全に写した、最古の文書が含まれている。
写本は4世紀ごろに現在のエジプトで1人の修道士によって書き写されたもので、少なくとも1600年以上はたっており、1450年代に書かれた有名なグーテンベルク聖書（Gutenberg Bible）などよりはるかに古い。
