ウズベキスタンで開かれた第46回チェス・オリンピアードで英ロンドンのボダナ・シバナンダンさん（11）が、史上最年少で女子グランドマスターの称号を獲得した。

シバナンダンさんは、27日にユーチューブで公開されたインタビューで国際チェス連盟（FIDE）に、「歴史を作り続けたい」と意欲を語った。

シバナンダンさんによると、チェスを始めたのは5歳のとき。新型コロナのパンデミック中、父親の友人からおもちゃや本をもらったのがきっかけだという。
