南米のボリビアで新種のネコが見つかった。名前は「ティルカヨ」で新種ネコの発見は実に100年以上ぶりだ。

ティルカヨというこの猫について地元民が呼んでいた名前はスペイン語やボリビアで話されるケチュア語で特定の意味を持つわけではないようだ。

現時点ではっきり分かっている事は、ティルカヨがアンデス山脈の東側斜面に広がるボリビアのユンガス森林生態地域に生息していることだけだ。
