米カリフォルニア州ハーフムーンベイで先日、セーフウェイ・カボチャ重量測定世界選手権が開催され、カボチャの重量の世界記録が更新された。
新記録を打ち立てたのは、ミネソタ州出身のトラヴィス・ギンガーさん。気になるカボチャの重量は、2749ポンド（1247キログラム）で、カバ1頭に匹敵する重量だ。
これまでの世界記録を46ポンド(21キログラム)以上更新したギンガーさんには、賞金として3万ドル（約447万円）が贈られた。
