和歌山県の近畿大学水産研究所は２６日、ニホンウナギの完全養殖に成功したと発表した。
研究所内でウナギを卵から育て、そのウナギから作製した受精卵が今年７月に 孵化 し、初めて完全養殖に成功した。
升間 主計所長はウナギの稚魚を育てるのは非常に難しい技術だが、これまでの経験を生かし、近大ウナギの量産につなげたいと意気込んでいる。
