JR東日本の駅弁の人気投票で、秋田県大館市の「おおだて鶏めし」が、最優秀賞の「駅弁大将軍」に選ばれた。

弁当は、大館駅の新たな駅舎の開業に合わせて、市内の老舗駅弁屋「花善」が製造した。

また、弁当に添えられた街歩きマップを作成した地元の小学校の児童たちは大館に来ていろいろ知ってほしいと話していた。
