パリ五輪のレスリングの女子５３キロ級で、藤波朱理が、決勝でルシア・ジェペスに勝ち、公式戦の連勝を１３７に伸ばし金メダルに輝いた。
彼女は勝利の後、コーチであり父、俊一さんに勢いよく飛びつくと力強く抱き留められ、その後日の丸を二人で掲げ喜びを分かち合った。
