札幌市のランドマークの一つ、「さっぽろテレビ塔」（札幌市中央区）の運営会社は２５日、塔の高さが公称の「１４７・２メートル」ではなく、実は「１４４メートル」であることを明らかにした。
１９５７年の完成時から２００５年まで１４７・２メートルだったが、０５年の工事で先端部のアンテナが３・２メートル短くなり、それが周知されないまま今日に至っているという。
国の登録有形文化財にするよう答申したテレビ塔を、会社は「これを機に『１４４メートル』で覚えてもらいたい」としている。
