今回は昔の海のニュースです。日本語訳載せときます。

恐竜のいた白亜紀時代、海の中はイカだらけだったと、北海道大学などの研究チームが科学誌に発表した。

チームは北海道の約1億～7千万年前の海でできたこぶし大の岩石35個を、少しずつ削りながら写真をたくさん撮影し、岩石を丸ごとデジタル化した。

研究チームが調べた岩石からは、特徴が異なるアンモナイトやタコが持つくちばしの化石も見つかったが、イカが一番多く栄えていたことがわかった。
