ニューデリーでのパラ陸上の世界選手権で男子400メートル（T52＝車いす）が行われ、佐藤友祈(モリサワ)が54秒21で金メダルを獲得した。
続いて上与那原寛和（SMBC日興証券）が59秒55で銀、伊藤智也（バイエル薬品）が59秒66で銅を手にし、日本勢がメダルを独占した。
佐藤は「しっかり勝ち切ることはできた。今大会は100メートルでも金メダルを狙いたいし、1500メートルも同様にメダルを狙う」と語り、さらなる飛躍を誓った。
