林業が盛んな矢浜地区に、200年以上前から伝わる「山の神祭り」では、ふところから出したオコゼを見て、みんなで大笑いする。
オコゼが登場して「海の神」が家来の数で勝ったため、負けた「山の神」が怒らないようオコゼを笑いものにしたのが始まりだ。
参加者は「オコゼでござる。あっハッハッハ」とオコゼを見て大笑いし、山仕事の安全と豊作を祈願しました。
