朝鮮通信使は、江戸時代に12回来日し、ソウルから東京までの道中で下蒲刈島や福山市鞆町に立ち寄ったことが知られている。
日本と韓国の国交正常化から60周年のことしも、「朝鮮通信使再現行列」には、およそ300人が参加した。
呉市下蒲刈町を訪れた人たちは通信使の再現行列や広島藩主を乗せた櫂伝馬船の写真を撮ったりして楽しんでいた。
