ことしのノーベル平和賞は、佐藤栄作元総理以来50年ぶりに、日本被団協が受賞することになった。
ノルウェー・ノーベル平和委員会は、受賞理由について、核兵器が2度と使用されてはならないことを証言によって示してきたこと等が評価されたとしている。
彼らが賞に選ばれたことが発表されると箕牧智之代表委員は「夢の夢。うそみたいだ」と涙を流して喜んだ。
