島根県松江市島根町に100年前から伝わる奇祭「ガッチ」が三年ぶりに行なわれた。

ガッチと呼ばれる白装束に仮面をつけた鬼30名が奇声を上げてシッボと呼ばれる藁の棒を振って人々を追い回しシッボで叩きまくる。

この祭りは五穀豊穣や無病息災を祈るもので、叩かれた人々は痛さを我慢しつつご利益があると喜んでいた。
