勤労感謝の日
勤労感謝の日は、11月23日の国民の祝日の一つです。
日本では古くから、天皇が新穀などの収穫物を神々に供えて感謝し、自らも食する「新嘗祭」という祭事が行われてきました。明治以降11月23日を新嘗祭の行う日として祝日としました。
第二次大戦後、祝祭日の名前について神道的な意味合いの見直しを連合国より求められました。またGHQはアメリカのサンクスギビングデーのような日を設けるように求めました。それで新嘗祭の日から勤労感謝の日に名前が変わりました。
法律では勤労感謝の日の意味は「勤労を尊び、生産を祝い、国民がたがいに感謝しあう」という事です。
勤労感謝の日の起源となった新嘗祭は弥生時代からの風習も残っている古いものです。
新嘗祭は伊勢神宮では年中行事の中で最も重要なものとされています。その年の新穀を天照大御神に捧げ、多くの観客も訪れます。明治神宮でも舞が巫女達によって奉納されます。
またどぶろくという酒のお祭りも各地で行われます。行ってみてはどうでしょう。
