講談
講談とは、日本の伝統芸能のひとつです。
講談の始まりは太平記読みとされています。食に困った浪人が人々を集めて14世紀初めの軍紀である太平記を読んで聞かせたというものです。落語が会話によって成り立つ芸であるのに対し、講談は話を読む芸という違いが講談と落語にはあります。講談師達は張り扇で釈台を叩きパパンという音を響かせて調子良く語り、聴衆を話の中に引きつけます。水戸黄門、大岡越前、国定忠治など日本の江戸時代を扱った映画、TVのヒーロー達の活躍も講談が生みの親です。
文化庁のホームページで講談の英語の説明を見ることが出来、一部の公演では字幕付きの講談を見ることが出来ます。また英語講師Tommyさんの英語講談動画も楽しいです。
とりわけお勧めしたいのはアメリカ人の講談師旭堂南春さんです。英語講師をしていた彼女は講談の魅力に目覚め、日本語と英語の講談師として活躍しています。彼女はユーチューブチャンネルで子供向けの英語講談番組を流したり、英語講談教室を開いたりしています。どうぞ彼女の講談を聞いたり真似したりして、日本の話芸を楽しんで下さい。
