7月27日の「スイカの日」に東松山市のこども動物自然公園では、スイカを食べるタイムをカピバラが競いあうカピリンピックが行われた。
この動物園は、カピバラのかわいらしさをPRしようと、4つの動物園と合同で、スイカの早食い競争「カピリンピック」を毎年、行っている。
東松山の代表「ヘチマ」は、世界記録の1分29秒でスイカを食べ終え、見事二連覇を果たした。
