メイクイーンの発祥の地北海道厚沢部町で毎年7月巨大コロッケを揚げるイベントが行われ、今年も町内外から多くの人が訪れた。
2022年には厚沢部町の人々はこのイベントで279キロのコロッケを作り、それまでのオランダの記録を抜いてギネス世界記録に認定された。
今年もジャガイモ２５０キロとひき肉や玉ねぎと混ぜたものを３００リットルの食用油が入った大きな鍋にクレーンで投入し900人分のコロッケが完成した。
