MLBのフィリーズ傘下1Aのクリアウォーター・スレッシャーズで、6年間に渡ってボールやバットを運び続けた名物犬・レイラが、惜しまれながら引退した。
人間の年齢に換算すると、実に96歳にもなる雌のラブラドールのレイラは迎えたラストゲームでは、2イニングにわたってバットを回収し、観客からは「愛してるよ、レイラ！」と声が飛んだ。
少し足取りが重くなったおばあちゃん犬が務め上げた大役に、スレッシャーズの公式X（旧ツイッター）は動画とともに「私たちは泣いています。レイラの最後のバット」と投稿した。
