ミネソタ州のガレージセールで、骨董品収集家が50ドル未満で購入したインパスト技法で描かれた油彩画が、ゴッホの未発表作品ではないかと専門家たちは指摘している。
絵画は46×41センチで、漁師がパイプをくわえながら寂しげな浜辺で網を修理する様子が描かれており、右下には、おそらく漁師の名前である「エリマール」と走り書きされている。
ファイン・アート科学分析会社の代表が顔料と繊維を分析したところ、キャンバスの織り目の密度や顔料はほぼ全てが当時のものと合致していた。
