「沖縄コーヒープロジェクト」はサッカークラブの沖縄SVとネスレ日本が共同で進めていて、1次産業の担い手の育成や耕作放棄地の有効活用にも取り組んでいる。
国頭村の農園ではコーヒーの苗植えの体験会が開かれ、応募で集まった約40人とプロジェクトを応援するHYのメンバーらがコーヒーの苗木10本を植え付けた。
参加した女の子は「難しかったけど木がちゃんと成長してくれたら嬉しいです」と語った。
コーヒーの実は順調に育てば2027年にも収獲できるということだ。
