「しょうが」などの香辛料の神をまつる全国的にも珍しい金沢市の神社で、豊作や料理の上達を願う恒例の「はじかみ大祭」が行われた。
神官達がしょうが湯を盃で飲んだあと盃を地面にたたきつけて割る神事を行ったあと、しょうが湯が神前に供えられ、参加者にもふるまわれた。
神社の拝殿にはしょうがやにんにく、香辛料を使ったカレーなどが供えられ、訪れた多くの参拝者が無病息災などを祈願していた。
