山口大学と宇部市の企業は、ＣＡＲーＴ（カーティ）細胞療法という技術を使った世界初のガン治療の研究に取り組むと発表した。
彼らはガン患者から取り出した免疫細胞にガンへの殺傷能力を持つＣＡＲ（カー）細胞を入れて再び投与する「ＣＡＲーＴ（カーティ）細胞療法」の新しい技術を開発した。
ＣＡＲーＴ（カーティ）細胞療法による「固形ガン」の治療は世界初の技術だということで、現在は実用化に向けた臨床試験を行っている。
