高校生の「おにぎり日本一」を決め大会が福岡県北九州市で開かれ、全国から来た31人の高校生によって熱戦が繰り広げられた。
熊本県産のニンジンとトマトを混ぜ込んだおにぎりや、福岡県飯塚市の地元の銘菓をモチーフにしたおにぎりなど、各チームが地元食材を生かした一品を作った。
優勝は北九州市のご当地グルメ「肉肉うどん」をイメージしたおにぎりで、北九州市立高校が2年連続の栄冠に輝いた。
