ボリビアのカレラス・パンパスで最近、獣脚類が1億100万年～6600万年前に泥の上を歩いた足跡が確認され、その数は1万6600個と、世界最多の規模に達した。
研究チームがこのほど科学誌プロスワンで発表したところによると、それらの多くはけもの道を形成したり、同じ恐竜の1頭が歩き続けた跡だったりした。
専門家によると、この足跡群は様々な大きさの足跡が多数あるため、骨の化石からは分からない当時の生息環境が浮かび上がってくるという。
