世界初の自動運航機能を備えたコンテナ船「げんぶ」の実証実験が完了し、世界で初めて商用運航が始まった。
神戸ポートターミナルに到着した自動運航船として新しく建造され、国内の港を定期運航するコンテナ船「げんぶ」は全長134・9メートルで標準的なコンテナを696個を積むことができる。
「げんぶ」は船員不足対策として開発され、自動運転レベル4相当の一定の条件のもと、港への着岸やシステムが導いたルートに沿って自動運航ができるということだ。
