瓦への関心を高めてもらおうと、山口県宇部市の小学校で鬼瓦づくりの体験教室があり90人の児童が取り組んだ。

鬼の顔をかたどったあとは角や牙などを飾りつけ、工夫を凝らしながら、オリジナルの鬼瓦作りを楽しんでいた。

山口県瓦工事業協同組合の恵良正明理事長 は「瓦という日本の伝統的な建築材料の良さを感じてもらえればな」と語った。
