節分
節分は、各季節の始まりの日の前日のことで、江戸時代以降は特に毎年2月4日ごろの立春の前日を指します。
古くから宮中での年中行事であり、季節の変わり目には邪気(鬼)が生じると信じられていたため、それを追い払うための悪霊ばらい行事が執り行われていました。
多くの神社やお寺で、「鬼は外、福は内」という掛け声の下、大豆をまきます。
この豆まきは家庭でも特に子供たちが行います。他に歳の数だけ豆を食べたり、鬼がにおいを嫌うとされるイワシを食べたり、柊の葉を玄関に付けたりします。
最近コンビニなどの影響で全国的に普及したのが恵方巻です。これは縁起のいい方角を向いて太巻き寿司を願い事をしながら黙って食べるとよいという風習です。
京都の八坂神社では舞妓が豆をまきます。また、千葉の新勝寺、神奈川の川崎大師、愛知の大須観音等では「福は内」だけ言います。
箱根神社は水上スキーに乗った鬼に、船から豆をまきます。節分の行事を楽しんで下さい。
