第一次世界大戦
第一次世界大戦とは、1914年から1918年11月にかけて、協商国と同盟国の間で戦われたヨーロッパを中心にした戦争です。
ドイツ帝国、オーストリア＝ハンガリー帝国、ブルガリアなどによる国と、イギリス、フランス、ロシアを中心とした国との戦いで、両軍合わせて25カ国が参戦しました。第一次世界大戦の背景にあったのが、世界的な不況と帝国主義です。
アメリカははじめは中立でしたが、100人以上のアメリカ人が乗っていた客船が、ドイツによる魚雷攻撃により沈没したことから参戦しました。
また日本も日英同盟によって参戦します。1914年8月にドイツへ宣戦布告すると、日本は直ちに中国国内のドイツ支配地域を攻撃・占領し、中国での権益拡大を実現出来ました。。
潜水艦や化学兵器などが使われ、戦闘員900万人以上と非戦闘員700万人以上が死亡した史上最大の死者の出た戦争でした。また戦争が長引いた為4つの帝国が崩壊しました。
この戦争後ドイツに多くの賠償金を突き付けた結果、不況と合わせて21年後の第二次世界大戦に世界は進みます。
