Eニュース2024年5月22日マグナカルタを発見
これまで非公式な複製と見なされていた、イギリスのマグナ・カルタ（大憲章）の写本が、実は本物の原本で、「世界で最も貴重な文書の一つ」だと考えられると、イギリスの学者らが発表した。
今回、中世史の教授2人が分析の末、ハーバードにあった文書が1300年にエドワード1世の治世下で作成され、のちに所在不明になったマグナ・カルタの極めて希少な原本の一つだと結論付けた。
現在の価値についてヴィンセント教授は、「具体的な金額を示すのはためらわれるが、2007年にニューヨークで競売にかけられた1297年版のマグナ・カルタは2100万ドル（約30億6000万円）で落札された。つまり、非常に高額な価値があるということだ」と述べた。
