北海道の在来種の馬「どさんこ」に乗って初詣をする新年恒例の「騎馬参拝」が函館八幡宮で行われた。
1月2日、やぶさめの装束に身を包んだ乗馬クラブのメンバーらが乗った4頭の「どさんこ」が、本殿に続く134段の石段を一気に駆け上がった。
乗馬クラブの池田茂さんは「見に来た人たちの願いがかないますようにとお願いしました。騎馬参拝を絶やさないように今後も続けていきたい」と話していた。
