宮城県加美町では、およそ６５０年前から続く中国の故事にちなんだ春の伝統行事、「火伏せの虎舞」が披露された。
虎舞の「舞い手」は、地元の子供達で、家の前や屋根の上で、太鼓や笛の囃子にあわせて二人一組になって「虎頭」と胴体を操る。
勇壮な演舞に見物に訪れた人たちから盛んな拍手が送られ、演舞が終わると、訪れた家族連れが虎頭に子供の頭をかんでもらい、健やかな成長を祈願した。
