1月21日から沖縄県の２か所で日本一早い桜まつりが行われる。
八重岳桜まつりは標高約453メートルの八重岳に約7000本の桜が2月に向けて一斉に咲き誇る。
今帰仁グスク桜まつりは城の内外で夜にはライトアップされ約700本のヒカンザクラが楽しめる。
