静岡県東伊豆町の伊豆アニマルキングダムでは恒例企画が行われて河津桜を登るアリクイの姿が人気を集めている。
ミナミコアリクイはもともと木の上で生活する動物で、手足の爪やしっぽをうまく使って木登りする姿は「絶対に落ちない」と受験生に人気だ。
桜の蜜をなめたり、木の上にいる昆虫を食べたりしてのんびり過ごすアリクイの光景は桜の花が終わる3月上旬まで見ることができるということだ。
