餃子
餃子とは小麦を原料とした皮で肉、エビ、野菜などで作った餡を包んだだんごのような食べ物です。包んだ後の加熱の仕方によって水餃子、蒸餃子、焼餃子に分類されます。
日本で初めて餃子を食べたのは、江戸時代の水戸藩主徳川光圀だと言われています。
日本では焼餃子が多く普及しましたが、その理由は水餃子、蒸餃子よりもご飯のおかずになりやすかったためです。餃子の餡の原料は肉、キャベツ、ニラ、白菜などです。肉は豚肉が多いですが、鶏肉、羊肉、牛肉などを合わせて使うこともあります。海鮮餃子のようにシーフードを餡に使う場合もあります。
餃子で有名な街としては宇都宮市と浜松市があって長年餃子の消費量を競ってきました。最近宮崎市が宇都宮市を抜いて消費量二位になりました。
子供からお年寄りまで人気の高い国民食となった餃子を私は勧めます。
