年賀状
年賀状とは、新年を祝う挨拶状で、一般的には郵便葉書が用いられます。
1873年の郵便はがき発売以来、年賀状がはがきで送られるようになりました。
ただ1月1日の消印を得ようと多くの人の年賀状がが年末に集中してしまうため、1900年に年賀状は特別扱いになりました。
つまり年賀状は一定の期間に切手の下に赤い字で「年賀」と書かれていれば1月1日に届くようになりました。
郵便局が売る年賀状にはくじがついています。また寄付金付きのものもあります。現在の寄付総額は年3億円位です。
現在年賀状の数は減ってきています。年賀状のピークは2003年で発行部数は約44億6千万枚でした。2023年は約16億4千万枚です。
これは主に二つの理由があります。一つは紙ではなくLINE等のSNSで年賀状を送ることが普及したことです。
もう一つは年賀状じまいといって人生の終盤を整理する等の理由で年賀状をこれから出す事をやめる人が増えたからです。
