壬申の乱
壬申の乱は、西暦672年に起こった古代日本最大の内乱です。
天智天皇の弟の大海人皇子が、天智天皇の息子大友皇子を破って、その後天武天皇になりました。
日本書紀によれば、はじめは天智天皇の後に大海人皇子が天皇になる予定でした。しかし天智天皇は大友皇子を太政大臣に据え、後継者にしようとしました。
身の危険を感じた大海人皇子は吉野に身を移し僧になりました。天智天皇の死後、大友皇子も叔父に脅威を感じていたので挙兵をしようとして、大海人皇子はやむなく挙兵をしたといいます。
朝鮮半島での戦いの為、九州で対外防衛に当たらなければならなかったり、都を大津に移すなど天智天皇や大友皇子に不満を持つ豪族も多かったので、大海人皇子は勝利しました。
しかしながら日本書紀の編纂者は大海人皇子の子供です。歴史は勝った者の立場で書かれることが多いです。
「やむなく」ではなく、大海人皇子の妻である持統天皇が、自分の弟より自分の息子を天皇にしたかったから夫にけしかけ乱を起こしたともいわれていますが、真実は謎です。
