お盆
お盆は通常8月13日から16日を指します。この時期はご先祖様の霊がこの世に戻って来るといわれており、それをもてなすための行事が、お盆です。
元々は旧暦7月15日を中心に行われました。しかし新暦に移行して農繁期と重なるため多くの地域が8月15日にお盆をするようになりました。ただ旧暦や新暦の7月15日にする地域もあります。
お盆には様々な風習があります。祖先を迎える火をたいたり、送る火をつけたりします。送る火は京都の山にともされる大きな火文字が有名です。
きゅうりとなすで霊を乗せる馬や牛も作ります。
またお盆は様々なお祭りが行われます。そして盆踊りという祖先の霊を楽しませる踊りも踊られます。日本三大祭りのうち徳島の踊りは100万人以上観客が来ます。残りの秋田の踊りと岐阜の踊りは世界遺産に登録されました。
正月に次いで日本の大きな行事であるお盆をどうぞ楽しんで下さい。
