てんぷら
てんぷらは魚介や野菜を主に小麦粉で作った衣で包み、油で揚げる食べ物です。
16世紀にポルトガルのカトリックの宣教師が小麦を使った西洋式のてんぷらを日本に伝えました。
天ぷらの語源は諸説ありますが、「テンポーラ」というポルトガル語から来ているという説があります。
衣は小麦粉、卵、水で主に作られます。てんぷらの代表的な具材は、車エビ、鱚、アナゴ、シメジ、かぼちゃ、茄子、サツマイモ、タケノコなどです。油でてんぷらによく使われるのはゴマ油と綿実油です。
出来上がったてんぷらは塩をつけたり、天つゆというつゆにつけて食べます。塩は風味付けされたものもあります。また、つゆにすりおろした大根を入れて食べることもあります。
中には揚げたてのてんぷらを食べることが出来る所もあります。揚げたての天ぷらは美味しいですが、やけどに気をつけましょう。
てんぷらはうどんやそばやどんぶりに入れたご飯の上に載せて食べられることもあります。代表的な和食であるてんぷらを私は食べることを勧めます。
