センバツ高校野球は、決勝が行われ、山梨学院高校は７対３で報徳学園に勝って、山梨県勢として甲子園で初めて優勝を果たした。
JR甲府駅で地元新聞社は地元高校のセンバツ優勝の号外1200部を市民に配り、10分ほどで無くなった。
