大相撲九州場所で関脇の安青錦(あおにしき)が12勝3敗同士の優勝決定戦で横綱・豊昇龍を破り初優勝を飾った。
決まり手は「送り投げ」で安青錦は土俵を下りると付き人と抱き合い、涙を浮かべ指でぬぐう様子が見られた。
安青錦は初優勝について「うれしいです」と語り、大関昇進が確実とされていることについて「まだもう一つ上の番付(横綱)あるのでそこを目指していきたいです」と話した。
