書道とは、書くことで文字の美しさを表そうとする東洋の造形芸術です。
書道は外国人には人気のアートで、書道パフォーマンスは日本文化紹介などのイベントに多く登場する日本を代表する文化体験になっています。
書道は,訓練を通じて文字の美的表現方法を追求し,実際の生活のなかに美しさをあらわし、心を豊かに自己を表現してゆく道とされています。
東京に書道美術館があるほか、美術館や寺社仏閣で昔の書を見ることが出来ます。また京都の東寺の年数回の特別展示で、国宝となった空海の書の最高傑作を見ることも出来ます。
書道は英語で動画や本で学ぶことが出来ます。また英語のアプリで書道をスマートフォンと指で体験も出来ます。
日本各地やオンラインでも英語で書道を体験することも出来ます。お気に入りの漢字を書いたり、自分の名前を漢字にしてもらって書くことも出来ます。書いたものはお土産にしたり、データ保存したり、掛け軸やTシャツにすることも出来ます。
