折り紙
折り紙とは、紙を折って動植物や生活道具などの形を作る日本伝統の遊びです。
1500年代末から1600年代初頭までにが作った短刀の装飾に折り鶴が描かれているため、この頃までには既に折り紙が存在したと分かっています。
紙を折る文化はヨーロッパなどでも別に発達しているが、現代では日本語の発音を移したORIGAMIという呼称が海外でも広く使われています。
代表的な折り紙には、鶴、風船、紙飛行機、手裏剣、兜などがあります。折り鶴は沢山折って千羽鶴という病気回復等の願いを込めておられることもあります。広島原爆後のエピソードから、平和の象徴にもなって、広島サミットの時には全国から折り鶴が六万羽集まりました。
石川県には折り紙の博物館があります。折り紙の動画はOrigamiAkoやEasy Paper Origami等英語で見られるものもあります。英語の本もありますし、日本折り紙協会では4か国語テキストも売っています。
海外にはOrigamiUSAやBritish Origami Societyといった折り紙のサイトや団体があり、ホームページで作り方や紙の購入も出来ます。どうぞ折り紙を楽しんで下さい。
