高知市は、高知県中部にある県庁所在地及び最大の都市です。
高知駅に着けば日本人なら誰でも知っているアニメ「アンパンマン」の音楽が流れます。高知は作者の出身地で、列車や銅像、ショップもあります。香美市には記念館もあります。
市街にはよさこい節にも歌われた有名なはりまや橋があります。今はコンクリート製ですが、横にレプリカがあります。
高知市のおすすめは高知城と桂浜です。高知城は日本で唯一天守閣と本丸御殿が共に残っている城で、土佐藩の創設者夫妻と、土佐出身の明治維新に活躍した人物の銅像もあります。
桂浜は月の名所で明治維新の立役者坂本龍馬の銅像が太平洋を眺めています。散策したり海のテラスに行ってもいいです。
高知市周辺では鍾乳洞やモネの庭美術館、土佐の宮島と呼ばれる神社や仁淀ブルーが見られます。和紙作りやホエールウォッチングも体験できます。
