釜石市の年の瀬の風物詩、ベートーヴェンの交響曲第９番の演奏会が17日開かれ４５年の歴史にピリオドを打った。

「かまいしの第九」は１９７８年に始まり、大地震のあった２０１１年も絶やすことなく歌い続けたが、中心メンバーの高齢化や資金難により、４４回目の今年で一区切りとなった。

オーケストラの演奏とともに、市内外から集まった１１５人の合唱団が「歓喜の歌」を高らかに響かせ、アンコールでは観客も一緒に第九を歌い上げた。
